Round 1

Crochet into a magic ring: 4 ch (counts as 1 dc + 2 ch), 1 dc, 2 ch, * 2 dc, 2 ch * repeat 7 times. Close the round with a sl st into the 2nd ch of the initial 4 ch.

Round 2

3 ch (counts as 1 dc), 3 ch, * 2 dc, 3 ch * repeat 6 times, 1 dc. The dc are crocheted around the ch loops of the previous round. Close with a sl st into the 3rd ch of the initial 3 ch.

Round 3

3 ch (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc, * 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc * repeat 7 times. The dc are crocheted around the ch loops of the previous round. Close with a sl st into the 3rd ch of the initial 3 ch.

Round 4 (Color change)

  • 12 dc around the ch loop of the previous round, 1 sl st into the space between the dc trios of the previous round * repeat 8 times.

Round 5

Crochet 1 sc in each stitch.

Fold the butterfly in half.

Butterfly Body

Crochet 25 ch.
In the 2nd ch from the hook, crochet 5 sc, then 5 sl st. The first antenna is finished.
Now crochet 7 ch for the second antenna. Crochet 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, then 5 sl st.
Crochet sc along the remaining ch stitches for the butterfly's body
